Phoenix Folk is a Tyneside based organisation that provides instrumental lessons and bands led by experienced tutors in a traditional/acoustic style playing. We offer a range of 1 hour 10 minute classes on a Wednesday evening, at the Ouseburn Farm, Byker, Newcastle. Players at most levels are welcome (and we offer occasional courses for absolute beginners). People who have particated in the Caedmon Folk programme at the Sage, Gateshead will see some familiar faces amongst our tutors, all of whom have a wealth of experience. Click here to learn more about our tutors.
Most Wednesday evenings we have a session after classes which provide a great opportunity for sharing songs or tunes or maybe just trying a first public performance in a friendly and supportive environment. Our unique eco-building venue has free parking, self service coffee, and good beer is only 50 metres away in the Cluny, who are always happy to provide a plastic glass for takeaways.
